Jeffrey - Busy Busy
Yup. Crazy busy at work and with school.
This week is "mid-term week". I have a mid-term in Finance (due tomorrow night, started but not finished yet), obviously take-home. I'm finding that I really "get" the ideas of courses (Finances, Economics, etc.) but am not always on top of the calculations. Finance is a bit hard that way. Thankfully, the more important part to the profs is "getting it", so that's alright. For Marketing, we have a huge Marketing Plan assignment due at the end of the semester. The first part of that is due Sunday. I've got that almost completely done but have to just get the last bits done on that.
Work is very busy. A lot of good things. I hired someone (a programmer) and he starts Monday--I have a few more interviews on Monday, we're still looking. I'd like to hire another programmer, actually 2 as well as an Office Manager/Receptionist and also a project manager. Then we'd probably hire another salesperson. Well, we're not rushing into that. We'll see where that goes. We can't afford it at the moment but, if things continue, I'll probably need someone else in the not too distant future.
So, what are we busy with? Well, we're just finishing off ChristianPublications.ca. It is so close. Should be out to their test group very shortly. We also have several new and existing clients that keep us busy. And then, the great new news: 2 big signings and some positive government interest. One of the signed clients we've been talking to for quite a while so it's great to be actually moving forward on that. It's starting as a very initial website but they have so many great ideas for what they want to be doing onlineSo that's getting us hopping, in addition to the other work. Some of the big news happened today so Michael and I went out for lunch after to celebrate (poor Ryan has gone to Edmonton for the weekend so he missed the meeting and the celebration).
To update on the article that I was going to write. Done and accepted for publishing. Not published yet but it'll happen soon. I mentioned that I would be intersted in writing more and the editor has suggested that I contact another editor for a related magazine (same communications companies own both magazines) as well he has asked me to give some ideas about where I might want to go so and wants to set up a time to chat on the phone. So that is working out well.
I feel on top of the world right now. It feels like everything I touch turns gold. I'm sure that will change, it can't continue forever, but I'm going to enjoy that while it lasts. I know this is God blessing our efforts at Webstylers. No doubt.
Not to put a "downspin" on everything, we're really not getting much on our RadiantCS, church front. This, to me, is the continual frustration with the inability of churches to recognize the importance of things that are not always in the "usual framework" of "ministry". Here we are, a company that really has things happening, and yet our outstanding technology that we are offering to churches for an absolute song, receives no interest. We're trying to help but we just can't get the churches to see the value and be interested. I mentioned to Maryruth tonight, on our way home from the Cheescake Cafe (celebration dessert), that it may just take a good deal of time. In the meantime, we continue working on other fronts. But I shake my head and wish I could convince them. Sigh.
